We are off to a great start!  We were able to get tons done, but we have have tons more fun things to do!  

We started off talking about storytelling and discussing what types of stories we liked best.  Since some of us have been studying genres in Library, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the students using their genre vocabulary to talk about the kinds of stories they like best.

Next, we tried our hand at storytelling and used storytelling cards (shuffle them up and deal them out!) to tell a group story.  Mrs. Gallitz started the story with her card  (boat) and picked the next person to show their card and continue the story.  I can tell you that our group story got very silly, very fast!

Then, we took pictures of one another (a head shot and a full body shot), so that we can use these pictures of ourselves in our stories.  While some students were taking pictures, others got started on their "Packed With Stuff About Me" posters. 

After that, we started a project in Microsoft Word that will incorporate our picture, a favorite background and our LIKES.  We hope to finish that next class and post them on the website.

We hurriedly finished up with our blog posts.  We only had time to strike a fun pose and introduce ourselves (first names only).  Next week we will add more information about what we li

    I am Mrs. Gallitz and this is my first year teaching at Hillel Academy.  I teach library, technology integration and manage the computer lab.  I am excited to have this opportunity to work with this group of students in the Digital Storytelling after-school club.
